Whether you document your day, thoughts or just do creative journaling, it's difficult to take time out to do so. Doesn’t matter if it is 5 minutes or an hour, if you are working from home or have an office job, to actually sit down and start journaling in a busy schedule is a huge task. Let’s say you are not working, you are a student or a stay-at-home person, having and maintaining consistency is hard regardless. We all wished we had more time in our hands so that we can do more of what we love.
To help you become consistent, or at least try and help you make a schedule, we have put together 3 tips. Let's have a look!
1)Set aside time to journal even if it is just 15 minutes a day
The best way to approach anything is to set aside a definite time and also a time frame to do it. Say you are home and you feel the creative juices flowing in your head, what will your next step be?
We’d suggest that you take your tools and stationery out, set a timer for say 25-30 minutes and start journaling. Even if by the end of the timer, your page isn’t complete, it is not a total loss because you have a half-done page. Which is always better than a blank page. Maybe once the timer does go off, you might want to complete what you started, and thus be able to journal.
2) Do it at the end of day to relax before bed time
For a lot of us, sitting and setting a time frame aside might come hard if our schedule is really tight. A schedule that has been set for a long period of time can be inflexible and might not slot in even a few minutes. But before bed almost all of us scroll social media to distract our minds. Why not swap this scrolling screen time with journaling?
You can journal your whole day, what happened during the day, how it was, was there a special moment? It can be easy to start a page because you will have so much content (whole day) to journal about. Not only will your eyes be relaxed before bed due to no screen but having dumped all your thoughts on paper, your mind will be refreshed and ready for the next day.
3) Get up early morning and start the day by journaling
For the rest of us that are too tired to do it before bed, what better than to do it early in the morning? You can set your day, your whole mood, by starting the day by being creative first thing in the morning. What better way to start and charge your brain, if not by starting the day doing that you love? Also, if you do journaling at the start of the day, it is like a task done first thing in the morning and not to think about it the whole day.
We can help you do just that! We at Kimey’s Korner have an early morning journaling club that will help you connect with more journaling lovers and will help you become consistent in journaling.
