If you are someone who doesn't have a lot of stationery or craft material hoarded at home, a major challenge would be 'how to use what I have in making a junk journal'. Go ahead and see for yourself what amazing things you can do with limited supplies, and the basic material you have at home.
Brown paper & Buttons
Even the basic papers like a brown envelope in which the groceries come can make beautiful stationery for junk journaling. Combine it with some colored papers/ magazine papers, and you get a beautiful spread.
Newspaper & Tickets
Newspapers can be found in every household, but the next time you travel, don't throw away your tickets. They make up for a beautiful ephemera (material) for the spreads.
Thread & Foil
I have used thread to make a check pattern here, and the aluminum foil to make a moon. You can use the thread to make any kind of pattern you like, and the foil can be used to make mirror or a dress or even clouds or fish. The possibilities are endless.
Cotton
Cotton can be used to make beautiful clouds. In fact, you don't have to restrict it to making clouds; you can use it for snow as well. The colored cotton can be used in making cotton candy (on paper, of course), or hair, or even a dress.
Magazine pages, Buttons & Ribbon
When junk journaling rules your mind, you are always on a lookout for beautiful pages and prints in a magazine. Combine it with some old buttons and ribbons, and a beautiful piece of art is ready for you.
Magazine paper & sketch pens
Now, who said you can only cut and paste things. You can draw, and color too, followed by cutting and pasting or vice versa. If sketch pens are not available, no one is stopping you from using pens either.
Thread & Sketch Pens
When it comes to making indefinite shapes, what can be more flexible than a strand of thread? You can use them as shown, or a green thread for making grass, or blue thread for making a sky, it's all your imagination.
Leaves & Paint
Do you necessarily need dried leaves? No, it's not important. You can paste even the leaves, and after a while, they'll dry up on their own.
In short, you can use anything and everything you have, in whatever way you want. That's the beauty of junk journaling, there is no right or wrong.
